The Land Down Under is something out of a story book. Filled with fun under the sun this is a paradise for anyone as it has something for you and everyone else.

Australia is teeming with wild life that you won’t want to miss, white sandy beaches you won’t see anywhere else, and good times to be had in it’s many cities.

Grab some sun block and head over to one of the five best destinations I have for you because they truly are not somewhere you’ll want to miss.

#5 Melbourne

4.2 million people currently reside in Melbourne according to worldpopulationreview making it the second largest city in Australia. Because of this there is no shortage of things to do, there is night life, a great local restaurant scene and plenty of water activities as it sits directly on the ocean.

Melbourne is a truly exciting city and you can simply feel the energy of it as soon as you get off the plane. The locals are some of the nicest people you’ll meet anywhere in the world and are more than helpful to ask for fun things to do as well.

#4 Great Barrier Reef

One simply cannot make a list of best destinations in Australia and not include this one. It is the largest coral reef in the world stretching for 1,429 miles over an area of approximately 133,000 square miles , the Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef system in the world.

I can’t even describe the grandiosity and the sparkling clear water well enough in this post, it is truly something you just have to experience.

The reef is unfortunately dying because of human intervention and climate change so please if you visit donate to a conservation charity. You can read more on it or donate here.

#3 Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

This striking World Heritage Site is home to Uluru (Originally Ayers Rock), a natural beauty that is the centerpiece of the whole park.

It is beautifully maintained by the Australian government and the indigenous peoples to which this site belongs, so you will get the best experience possible.

The site is stunning from end to end and you won’t want to leave however, I recommend going with a guide as it is difficult in many ways if you’re alone.

#2 Blue Mountains National Park

Oh boy is this one beautiful, the valley is something out of a dream I had and made me cry on the first visit. It’s a true reminder that Australia is among the top of the list in natural beauty, it’s natural features are tough to rival.

Also if you are even somewhat spiritual there is simply an energy here that feels like the perfect spot to meditate and reflect.

#1 Kangaroo Island

Being the #1 pick might be a bit controversial but this simply has the wild factor we look for. Wind sculpted scenery litter the island, the waters are exceptional for diving, and the wildlife is abundant.

It is just one island but is packed with every bit of beauty of many countries combined. There are sea lions, penguins and koalas in abundance, playing on the scenery that was formed over millions of years.

Nothing in the country beats Kangaroo Island for scenic beauty and in Australia that is saying quite a lot.
